The main task is to guarantee compliance with customs regulations and internal customs procedures. Administrative data is gathered, processed, and checked on compliance and corrected where needed. Key stakeholders are the direct manager, colleagues from the customs department in Belgium, and senior management Finance. External contacts are brokers and mostly BC colleagues from customer care export in EMEA. Communication with these internal en external contacts is needed to obtain information to correct customs data. 
This is a maternity coverage till mid-2025.

Key responsibilities:

• Brexit Follow-up files, daily checks on correctness customs documents – initiate corrective measures where needed.
• Create monthly reports on the availability of all Brexit documents – contact customs brokers if documents are missing.
• Import checks for BC Manufacturing UK – machine tools.
• Permanent contact with the UK and BE customs broker and regular calls/meetings to align on open issues
• Provide data for ad hoc questions from colleagues or brokers.
• Organizes calls with brokers or BC colleagues to gather missing information to come to a solution. 
• Takes the initiative to sort out problems and complete customs documents.

• Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting/ business administration.
• Proficiency in English.
• 2+ years of experience in administration or accountancy.
• First experience with customs documents and general functioning of customs in a business environment.
• General knowledge of taxes (indirect taxes, preferably customs).
• Good knowledge of MS Office. Knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
• Analytical skills.
• Strong administrative mindset and organized way of working.
